Family Works Northern in Manukau

The team at Te Hononga in Manurewa provide:

social work support, including through the Social Workers in Schools programme under which we have five social workers operating in eight Manukau schools providing early intervention and preventative social work services to young people and their families
counselling
group programmes.

The group programmes oferred by Te Hononga are:

The Incredible Years: A parenting programme aimed at providing parents/caregivers with useful information and practical guidelines on how to handle a variety of challenges. It consists of weekly two-hour group sessions for a minimum of 10 weeks.

Parenting through Separation: A Ministry of Justice-funded information programme for parents going through or considering separation. It aims to help parents support their children through this difficult time. It consists of two free two-hour sessions.

In addition in Manukau families can also be referred to Presbyterian Support Northern's Budgeting and Money Management services which provide practical support to help people overcome difficulties managing money/debt.
