Family Works Northern in Auckland

In Auckland the Leslie Centre team provides:

• social work support including through the social workers in schools programme under which we have two social workers in Auckland operating in a number of schools providing early intervention and preventative social work services to young people and their families.

• counselling

• group programmes.

The group programmes the Leslie Centre provides are detailed below:

The Incredible Years

A parenting programme that provides parents/caregivers with useful information and practical guidelines on how to handle a variety of challenges. It consists of weekly two-hour group sessions for up a minimum of10 weeks.

Strengthening Step-families

A programme to assist couples in the process of, or already living in a blended/step family, to build stronger relationships. The course encourages communication, and emphasises the importance of partnering whilst parenting. It consists of weekly two-hour group sessions for a minimum ofsix weeks.

In Auckland families can also be referred to Presbyterian Support Northern's Budgeting Service which provide practical support to help people overcome difficulties managing money and debt.
