Family Works Northern in East Auckland

Family Works Northern's East Auckland office is a satellite of the Leslie Centre in Mt Roskill, Auckland.

The East Auckland site is the base for two Family Workers who provide:

· social work assessment and support for families

· counselling for families

· group programmes

A social worker in secondary schools also works in the East Auckland area under a programme called the Multi Agency Social Support in Secondary Schools (MASSISS). The social worker provides early intervention and preventative social work services to young people and their families.

East Auckland currently runs the following group programme:

The Incredible Years

A parenting programme that provides parents/caregivers with useful information and practical guidelines on how to handle a variety of challenges. It consists of weekly two-hour group sessions for up a minimum of 10 weeks.
